In the second quarter of 2022, the top five medical apps on the Android platform in South Africa demonstrated a range of performance metrics, as revealed by Sensor Tower data.

Kena Health: Online Doctor showed a notable increase in weekly downloads, starting from 218 in late March and peaking at 6.0K in mid-May. By the end of June, downloads had declined to approximately 2.3K.

Covid Alert SA had consistent weekly downloads, with figures ranging from 2.5K to 3.8K. Active users for the app saw a gradual decline from 15.7K in late March to 10.8K by the end of June.

Ampath experienced fluctuating weekly downloads, starting at 1.3K and reaching a high of 3.9K in early May. By the end of the quarter, downloads had reduced to around 586.

GEMS: Member maintained a steady but low download rate, with weekly figures ranging from 189 to 512 across the quarter.

My Calendar - Period Tracker observed a consistent increase in weekly downloads, from 234 in late March to 484 by mid-June. The app also saw an increase in active users, rising from 5.5K to 6.2K over the quarter. Revenue for this app varied slightly, peaking at $47 in mid-May.
